I am starting to reload for the 6.5 x 284. I have
IMR 7828ssc and H 4831sc. Any other powders that
work well for you?
Thanks, Pharms

I have found MagPro to be very good in both my 6.5-284 rifles with heavier bullets

I load for my 6.5-06 which is very similar. R22, R23, H1000 all have given me excellent groups. I found 4831 a little to fast for 140 grain bullets. I have 5 pounds of 7828ssc but have not tried it. I bet it would be a good one

i have a very good load in my 6.5-284 using H 4350. I use IMR 7828 SSC almost exclusively in my 6.5 x 55 swede.

I've been shooting the 6.5x284 for over 20 years.

I've found my best loads using H4350 and H4831SC, but I have a custom chamber, long barrels and gain twist rifling so your mileage may vary.

One of my accurate loads (not the fastest) is
6.5x284 -Sierra 142g SMK, H4350-46 grn., Fed 210M, 2850 fps

Interesting, Maybe there is just enough difference in the cases but my 6.5-06 did not like 4350 or 4831. Especially with 130-140 bullets. It wanted a slower burning powder. I would have to check my notes to confirm I am getting 3125 fps and 1/2 inch groups with R23 with 142 Accubond LR. Although that could have been the speed of the 130 Accubonds. My memory isn't what it was Big Grin

I've taken over 500 WT deer, a monster blacktail, #2 Cape kudu, and numerous African animals with my 6.5/.284 XP-100 handgun. I found that Hybrid V-100 gives the best velocity. About all bullets work great, but the best 2 are 130 Nos. AB & 125 Nos. PT.

I use IMR4350,IMR 4831sc, RL19,RL22 in my 6.5-06 with equal results from all four. I guess I just always lean towards IMR 4350 in 30-06 sized cases.Should be very similar to your 6.5/284.
