I've been shooting the older barnes xbt in my 300 wby with good luck. I think I'm shooting about 84 grains of 7828 and this is a max load. Just want to make sure you are using weatherby brass and a weatherby gun with freebore. If you already own the xlc's that's fine but if not I'd sure opt for the new triple shocks. One last word--mine only shoots 1.5" at 100yds but settles down to 3" at 300 yds. (Must take a little time for the bullet to stabilize). I've also used the 4350's for accurate (but less velocity) in the 300 wby. In general I haven't had great luck getting the xlc version of bullets to shoot good in some guns.

I use 7828 and a 200 gr nosler PT in mine. Good speed and accuracy. - John

I've tried many loads through my .300 Wby and have settled on 77.5 gr. of H4350 with the 180 gr.Barnes Triple Shock. I've tried barnes X, XLC's, Noslers, etc and this load is the most accurate I have found. I have loaded this for one other .300 with equally good results. Both shooting .75" @ 100 yds, consistently. It is not the fastest 180 grain load my .300 has ever seen but it's accurate. It chronographs at 3070 fps out of a 24" barrel. the other .300 I loaded for is a 26" barrel and chronos at 3150 fps. I am also loading 190 SMK's with the same load and have the same results with this bullet - a few fps difference but almost identical in speed and trajectory. The benefit for me is that I can practice with a bullet that costs much less than the TSX. The 26" .300 however wouldn't shoot the SMK's at all - 3-4" groups at 100 yards! Let me know if you want more info on the load. Good luck.

I shoot a 300 Wby and have had very good luck with H1000 and H4831SC. I have stuck pretty much to the 165 gr bullets and have found they are pretty easy to get accurate loads out of. I have had problems with some earlier x-bullets in other guns so haven't loaded them for this yet but have heard good things about the TSX. I have found the Swift bullets to be very good. I am also looking forward to trying some loads of VV N560 to get my velocities up a bit.

I have had good luck with 82 - 85 gr of IMR-7828 under 180 gr Nosler partitions in several .300 Wthbys. Start low - my Remington 700 will only take 82 gr before blowing primers while others will take 85 gr with no problem.
