I am showing my travel kit which I made by in '89 when I had a wish for light weight equipment for Rv living on the road. Nothing was what I wanted so I had seen a reload in magazine articles showing Newton's tool from about 1910.
I have never seen the tool to exam.

This shows the balance beam and hand tool.

The balance was made about 8" inches and the wind in the reloadder room would make to move. It will weigh down to 1/10th of a grain.

I had to make all of the tooling and parts on a mini mill and a mini lathe. Neck size only and it is good for use on the range as you have everything needed to load.

I lost all of my posts a few days ago and you could find more posts under LesBrooks in the search section.

Everything in a small box. 3 1/2"X 3"X 8 1/2"

Nice kit, but I'd just take a Lee Loader.

Beautiful kit. Thanks for showing it.

When I've been mobile, I've used the Lee hand press (vs the Lee Loader) and an RCBS 502 scale and Lee scoops. But this hand-made kit is really impressive.

Sweeeeet, but I too use a Lee hand press. I always use it at the shooting bench, with pre-filled vials of powder. I really hate pulling bullets.

I will add some pictures close up to view how I made my reloader parts.

The powder adjustable tube is fitted up into the release after it is set up using the balance beam with the weights that I hand filed to 1/10 of a gr checked on the Redding scale

The tube has two sizes , one is 1/4 : id and the other is 3/8" , it will hold about 75 grs of powder

Here is a very good balance beam and it will move with only 1/10 gr of weight. The first model was too long on the bucket end of about 8" in. It had to be reduced to about 4" to work correctly. Hand file weights and checked with a Redding scale and with each totaled up to less than 1/10 gr off on 50 grs of balance weights.

Thats a nice setup you have there. A lot of good workmanship went into that.

I made a press mount that slides in a towing receiver for a buddy that pulls his camper with a pickup. It put the press level with the tailgate when the gate is down so he could use it as a table. He was thrilled with it.

God Bless, Louis

You have assembled/built a very impressive kit there. Congratulations.

I went made slightly different solution to compact/portable loading kit.

All the stuff I regularly use fits into 3 toolboxes plus a folding workbench. (The folding workbench could be replaced by a table or the trailer hitch receiver solution mentioned by youngoutdoors)

First toolbox is 23" x 10"x10" and contains my press (Lee Classic Turret), mounting system (a 2"x6" board that I clamp into the portable workbench) a small 4"X8"X1.5" fishing tackle box to contain all the small parts & tools and the primer feeding system. There's room for a couple of manuals in there, too.

The second (15"x8"x8") contains all the gunpowder handling parts. Scale, funnel, Powder measure/dispenser and a set of Lee's measuring scoops/dippers and my loading safety glasses.

The third (15"x7"x7") contains seven sets of reloading dies, mounted in their turrets inside their plastic storage cylinders, ready to plug into the press and use.

With my folding workbench, I can set up my reloading operation anywhere in just a few minutes.

Of course, a Lee (Load with a mallet) kit plus an arbor press to replace the mallet would do, also. But not anywhere near as nice a kit as you have built.

If so inclined, I bet you could set up manufacturing and sell them.

Regards,

Lost Sheep

They are pretty nifty, but only good for a single chambering and kind of tedious to use. My first ever press was a Lyman acculine. It makes a good mobile hand press.

Nice old school kit Les. Very unique.

In collage my set up for reloading was in a small wooden surplus box. About 16 by 20 inches

I made holes to mount a Lyman single stage and just put the rest in the box.

Mine is based around a Huntington Hand Press; with a spacer from the Redding .38/.357 .&4/.44 mag set has the dies within 0.001" of their adjustment on the Rock Chucker.
