I reloaded some .22-250 rounds for my Savage and shot a .424 center at 50 yards (3 round)center to center first time out!! I know it may not be the best but I was amazed. I need to see what they do at 100 and 200. 50 grain v-max with 35.5 grains of Varget. I just reloaded some and extended bullet so that I just have a marking from the lands on them (chamber closes with no extra pressure needed over factory rounds) and want to see how they do. Total length is over recommended COL - Is that normal to get closer to the lands?

yes most people seat the bullet to just shy of the lands. If I recall correctly, you do not want the bullet to touch the lands, just be a little off. COL is usually short enough to allow rounds to fit in the magazine, if its a hunting rifle, you seat to fit the magazine. Auburn University BS '09, DVM '17

Nothing wrong here at all....you're doing good. Congrats on the fine shooting.....you may also want to try H-380 and H-414 in the 22-250 and also the Nosler ballistic tips in both 50 and 55 grains are excellent bullets.....but there's a good many cheaper ones too that shoot great...the TNTs from Speer for example.....and I've not tried the varmint nightmares but they have had excellent ratings here. Keep the brass trimmed to spec and don't try to turn it into a .220 Swift.....enjoy it for the fantastic round it is. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
