I just sent off the order to Samco Global (www.samcoglobal.com) Arms for a Special Select Persian M98/29.
I was wondering about real-life experiences with the re-chambered widcats. Someone here had posted velocities with the 8mm'06 Ackley Improved that would make a .338 Winnie run and hide.

I have some good loads for both the standard 8mm-06 and the Imp.,but some one who is familiar with this action needs to reply on the strength and its ability to handle full power loads. I have no experience or knowledge of this action. Why don't use post under gunsmithing and ask Saeed or Ray Atkinson what they think? Sambubba

The M98 Mauser action is fully capable of handling any cartridge on the market today and yesterday. If you check any of the custom gun building journals you'll find THE action of choice is the M98. Why do people persist in asking this question all the time, is this the result of gunmagazine brainwashing or what. As to the Persian, this is considered by Mauser collectors as the finest example of pre-war military firearm craftsmanship to come out of Brno and possibly Germany.

Roger, like I said in my post I have no experience with this action and am not questioning its value or performance. The loads I posted previously are max from two different barrels chambered for the 8mm-06 imp. Here they are: 61g 4895--150g Sierra 58.5g 4320--180 nosler ballistic tip 58g 4895--175g Sierra 59g Reloader 15--175g Sierra 65g Imr 4831--200g Partition These loads were safe in both my barrels and both have a longer than normal throat. The 26" barrel chronographed 3034 fps with the 200g load and 3208 with the 175g load. This gun will walk and talk with the best of them. Sambubba
