Reloading press/station for 450 Nitro Express caliber

Hi guys,

I am about to start reloading 450 3 1/4 Nitro Express, but have not decided for what kind of press or station I will buy. Any recommendations from someone reloading that caliber ?

Rcbs supreme .. easiest and cheapest press to work for 3+ ince cases... I don't recall that I ever used my Hornady LnL with these..

Ah.. make certain you get the right shell holder

I haven not had much issue with either .416 Rigby or .470 NE with a RCBS rock chucker either, although sometimes you need to snake the bullet in the die before raising the ram.

I have both a Redding Big Boss 2 and the Redding Ultra Mag sitting on the bench. For big cartridges the Ultra Mag is a top choice. Not only it is extremely heavy duty, it has a very big front opening at 5 inches to work as it is not an O frame style press but a C frame, but it is also very precise as in on center and smooth in function too. It handles both the standard 7/8 dies and larger too. You will need the correct shell holder for it too.

I load 450/400 3 inch NE on my Hornady Classic Cast press. I have also loaded some 3 1/4 450/400. When seating the bullet as I remember I may have help bullet and brass together as I was seating the bullet. No difficulty!

I wasn't happy trying to slip bullets up inside the die with my Rock Chucker so bought an Ammomaster and been happy ever since.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

RCBS A4. I have seen hamfisted operators spring a C-frame out of alignment a couple times. I've loaded 505/550 Gibbs on mine, as well as the 3 1/4" Nitro Cases. Nothing can hurt an A4.

While the Redding UltraMag looks like a C-frame press, because the link bars attach to the top of the frame instead of the bottom there is no stress on the frame opening so it will never "spring" out of alignment or crack the frame.
A much stronger design than the standard "C" frame press, or "O" frame press for that matter.
