Huntington's is selling this brand of brass in some interesting calibers. But I don't know anything about the quality. Does anyone have any experience with it? I assume it is European. Perhaps some of our friends across the pond have used it and can shed some light. Thanks, | ||

bjdoerr, My experience with Hirtenberger products has not been very good at all. I would not buy it myself. I have found there brass to be too soft, and their loaded ammo loaded far too high. ------------------ www.accuratereloading.com | |||

I agree with Saaed soft brass and hot loads , as loaded ammo have good bullets , but in a hot climate a sticky bolt or a pierced primer it's not uncommon Daniel | |||

carcano91, I have tried 223 Remington, 308 Winchester Match, 6.5x68 RWS and 7mm Remington Magnum. All were far too hot. Even here in our air conditioned shooting lab. Saeed, Thanks. This is one reason why these boards are so darned useful. Guess I'll just try to track down some RWS for my 6.5x57R. It's harder to find and more expensive, but at least the quality is there. No sense paying for junk. Brian | |||

Hirtenberg�s 9 mm ammo is just fine. The 115 grs FMJ is a mild load, 124 grs FMJ is a hot ( military ) loading, the ~ 100 grs JFP is tops from speed and accuracy! The .357 load with 158 grs JSP is hot! The 357 cases are fine for reloading, will last much longer than RWS 357 nickeled cases ( split at second loading! ). In rifle ammo I use only .222 with 55 grs Nosler bullet. Those shoot fine. Hermann ------------------ | |||

bjdoerr, I have only used Hirtenberger cases in a 5,6x50R. I found them to be a bit on the soft side. They were also too thin on the neck, and when resized the would not hold the bullet. In 6,5x57R I believe there is no substitute for RWS. By the way, what are your favourite loads? montero | |||

I have used the 5.6x50R in a 6.5x50R-Bellm wildcat but not again. The first batch was fine, but the next batch was extremely thin in the neck area -- so much so that the brass would not hold sufficient tension to keep a bullet from sliding back into the case (after sizing, of course). I'll stick to RWS from now on. In other calibers, I have come to grow quite fond of Lapua, esp. in 6.5x55. | |||

Am I the only one who has used the 9mm and .308 Hertenberger with good success. The .308 brass seems really accurate when I handload it too. | ||

hi, along with the other criticism mentioned here, I have personally seen a batch of hirtenberger cases with flasholes not half the normal diameter!
