Every loading data book I've seen tells you what primer(s) were used in their testing. Put your nose to the grindstone, your belly to the ground, and your shoulder to the wheel. Now try to work in that position!

I normally use standard primers with Varget, haven't had any problems and accuracy is usually amazing or better. hth Rick R Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most.

I use piles of Varget in 223 and 308, never had a problem with standard primers. I use Federal Gold Medal Primers exclusively. Varget is great stuff.

I use it with standard primers in the .308 WCF, and with magnum primers in .375 H&H and larger bores and cases. Both work great.

I have used Varget for 308 Win using CCI large rifle primers with good success. I would just go with whatever the reloading manual you use calls for. NRA Life Member

9.3x62 has listed some very nice calibers for the Varget powder. On those caliers I use CCI-200 (standard) primers. When I load for the 375 H&H, 416 RN and 458 WM, I use mag primmers, CCI-250. No problem with ignition with the standard primers as far as I can tell, burns very clean and very little residue in the barrel after the shot. I use Varget in 4 different calibers and haven't felt the need for magnum primers in any of them. It produces excellent accuracy with standard primers in my rifles. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal Cal Sibley

In the 458Lott burning 83gr of powder, standard WLR primers do the job. Compressed loads in the 45/70 are also fine with the standard primer. Cheers... Con
