reloading 3006 to 3030 level

Hi
I sold my 3030 and have a plenty of bullet left like nosler PT 170 grain and hornady and rem all i n 170 grain. I want to load them in my ruger 3006 ,but i want to keep the velocity low around 2300. 24000 fps at max. do you have any loading sugetion?

Yes; I don't think you are ever going to reach 24,000 fps, kinda FAST, 42-45 gr 4895, any flavor, will get you close, got a chrono.

Ken Waters Pet Loads has data for 30/30 duplication loads for the 30'06. So does the Lyman Cast Bullet handbook. I've used IMR4198, RL7, and IMR3031 to make "30/30'06" loads using 150 Remington roundnose softs intended for the 30 WCF.

I loaded thousands of 168 SMK 42.0 IMR 4895 LC cases, WLR and got 2450 fps in the 30-06. This load was very accurate at 200 yards. I am certain that your 170 grain bullet would go a little slower.

Try 32 grains of IMR 4198 or RL 7...

about 30 grains of SR 4759 from IMR will work out superbly also...

H 4895 is too finicky for accuracy.. unless you want to mess around with it, trying to get it to shoot...be my guest...

41gr. H335-2400fps.

these loads were predicated on a 26" barrel. popcorn

mine is shorter tan 26 inches rotflmo only 22 inches long Frowner than i may add a grain or two poweder to compansate the short barrel Smiler to acheive the same result.
