I'm getting ready to load some 125gr Sierra Spitzers for my NEF single shot 30/30 rifle.
I was wondering if anyone here might have any experience with that round.
I am interested with Accuracy not speed. Or both if fast is accurate.
Any suggestions?

My pet load for a 30-30 contender handgun was 30 grains of IMR 4198 and a 130 grain single shot pistol bullet from Hornady......this load produced sub 1" groups in 3 different contender barrels and in a Savage 340 30-30 bolt action carbine. You might want to back it down a couple of grains and see how it works with the sierra in your rifle.

Are you crimping that round?

My load is 34 gr. IMR 3031 and a Hornady 130 singl shot pistol bullet. I get sub moa groups out of a Savage 340 with this load. I haven't chronographed it, but, I think it is a pretty mild load. Rojelio.

Vance.....no crimp

Rojelio

We found the Hornady 130 single shot pistol bullet too frangible for close range deer when fired from the 340 carbine.....have you experienced the same results?

GonHunting, The only thing I've shot with it is 1 coyote. I haven't had the rifle that long. Just been playing around with it because I think it's a neat little gun. The coyote was a target of opertunity and it seemed to work fine on him.The 'yote didn't seem to complain. Have a good day, Rojelio.

I have been using the Remington 125g PSP and 37.5g of H335. It shoots 1" groups in 2 bolt action .30-30's and a single shot with a 24" barrel. Velosity is 2560 FPS out of a 22" barrel.

Hornady also makes a 130 Interlock spitzer, which is sturdier than the pistol bullet of the same weight. Try it out for deer. I like it in my Savage 340 over 36.5 gr of H-335. I also like the 150 Winchester Power Point over IMR-4064 or 3031. (Thanks to Hawk for that tip.)
