With a C.O.L of 2.300 and a 24" barrel, what kind of speed am I getting? what kind of speed can I expect on the top end, with the right powder? I want to duplicate my ballistics with my other rifle @3100 f.ps with a similar B.C

3100 fps with a 75 gr A-max is not possible at safe pressures in a 24 inch bbl with ANY powder. If you really want 3100 fps with that bullet, you need a case capacity of nearly 37 grs of h2o. You can get 2900 with a slower powder like R15 or 748 in a 223 case.

A quicky run on Quickload says you are getting something like 2877 fps. 2900 is about as much as you can expect, with 3031, H4895, RL15, 748. That is at 55,000 PSI, which is a bit hotter than I would suggest you run in an auto, or a mil-spec chamber. FWIW, Dutch.

I'd guess only about 2650 or 2700 with H322. That's been my experience with it - accurate but slow.

FWIW, top end with moly bullets, double based powders and long barrels rarely gets to 3000 in 223. Higher BC is more important than higher MV.

H322 is too fast for that heavey of bullet. Try Varget, 4895, Re15, or N540.

I like Varget.
