IMR Trail Boss is manufactured for IMR by ADI, Ltd.

So..... I wanted to see what reloading data the ADI Reloaders Guide had on AS-25 BP (Trail Boss powder).

To my surprise there was absolutely NO data or even the mention of ADI AS-25 BP in the guide. Eeker

Do you know why this is? AND..... Can you purchase IMR Trail Boss (or equivalent) "down under"?

TIA!

Ahhhh! Now I see now why I couldn't find Trail Boss in the ADI Reloaders Guide. ADI hasn't updated their online guide since 2004. Trail Boss was introduced in 2007.

ADI gives links to three US gun publications for load info on Trail Boss.

Thanks, muzza.

Hey Donnie Q...

when it came out, I called Hodgdon.. and their tech guy told me it was impossible to overpressurize a case using Trail Boss in any caliber.. as long as the load was not compressed...

seems to be fine, as I have played with it in cartridges from 223 up to 444 Marlin..and did some loading for a 45/70 for a friend...

worked fine in each... the closer to full, the more accurate it seems to be tho..

has zippo for recoil...

Hmmmm! That's funny..... because when I told the Hodgdon Tech I was loading a 180gr. bullet in .38 SPL he advised that I should determine how much Trail Boss I could fit into the case without compressing when the bullet was seated to the desired OAL. He said that 50% if that powder weight would be the starting charge and 75% of that powder weight would be the maximum charge.

In any case, the tech did not tell me that ANY desired bullet weight could be used with 100% load density of Trail Boss in ALL cartridges.

Well Donnie Q...

thanks for the clarification of what you were loading..

I should have highlighted that my question was for loading rifle cartridges, which is the most common application for Trail Boss as it's main target market was for rifles in Cowboy Action shooting competition..

so my bad..

must admit, I'd pick a powder with a little more ooomph than Trail Boss in a pistol..

but on what I have used it in, it has given stellar accuracy.. so maybe I'll give it a try in my 38 Special and see what it gives me..
