I am going to be reloading a 30.06 for whitetail hunting. I am going to use bullets that consist of 150 NBT's, 165 NBT's, 180 NBT's, 200 Accubonds, and 200 Gamekings. The heavier bullets are just some I have around and will be interested in trying for shits and giggles.
What powder combos would you all suggest trying with those selected bullets that I mentioned?
Thanks,
CRoberts

IMR 4064 is splendid for 150 gr. bullets. 52 or even 53 grains of it (work up to this -- don't start there) will give 3000+ f.p.s. in most rifles with this bullet weight.

H4350 is splendid for 165 to 200 grain ones. (IMR 4064 is too fast burning and will not give the best velocity figures with heavier bullets, at least in my experience.)

The 4831s also work very well for the heavier bullets -- 165 gr. and up.

I've found that H 414 also works very well for 150 to 180 grain bullets in the '06.

For 200 grain ones I'd use one of the 4831s.

One thing about the 30-06 is that it tends not to be persnickity about powders -- many work very well in it.

For max velocity with 200 and heavier bullets, you can use as much RL 22 or IMR 7828 as you can get into the case, using a drop tube, and then compressing the powder as you seat the bullet.

I would not use magnum primers in the '06 -- I'd use regular large rifle ones.

In 30-06 I use a 165 grain Hornady bullet.
Try 46.5 to 47.5 grains of Winchester 748.

For 150s and 165s, try H-414. It is the velocity champion for those bullet weights, and it is a good choice.

I don't like "Ball" powders, just don't trust them in case of severe temperature changes. So I've been loading H4350 with the 165s, and will be trying RE15 in the spring. And Sierra has RE15 as it's "Hunting" load for the 165s, a call to them verified that it's an excellent powder in the '06, and will probably be my "NEW" powder for the 165-168s. We'll see in the spring. Jay

My best load is 57gr of IMR4350 with 165gr.NBT with CCI 200 primers. This combo gives me sub moa groups and is great for deer.

I'm sold on H-414....and not at all worried about temps... Win 760 is similar if not the same.

You got very good info above. If you want more detailed info look up OK Shooter or Stanley Watson on a google search. He has done a bunch of original research with every bullet and powder you can think of in the 30-06 and sells it very reasonably in a booklet. If you just want to find a load or two that works in your rifle you have likely got what you want above. "D"

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"
