Despite meters of loadbooks I can't find a good starting load for these bullets in my TC Encore with Vithavouri powders. The preferred powder will most likely be VV N130 which has the same burning rate as Hodgdon H332 and Accurate 2230. The Encore handles Ruger no 1. pressures. Thankful for all hints that can follw me on my way... Thx A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity. Sigmund Freud in General Introduction to Psychoanalysis

VV lists data for the Hornady 300 grain. Nothing wrong with using that for a starting load. It will probably be going a little faster than the jacketed bullet but the pressure won't be any higher. That bullet or any cast bullet of that weight is not going to take kindly to Ruger #1 pressures. Accuracy will fall off and/or leading will be terrible before you ever get to that point. Mike

Go to http://www.garrettcartridges.com .I emailed him and he responded about his 45 70 ammo in the Encore he said most of his ammo will work in the encore except one and I can't find his info after my pc crashed.
