Some grains of Unique or Blue Dot might do the job, depending on how "squib" you want to go.

With a 200 grain Grand Slam and 35 grain Blue Dot according to Quickload you'd obtain 46.500 psi and 2200 fps.

I shoot a similar load from a .338 WM and it works well.

I'll PM seafire, I have some Unique on hand if anyone thinks a similar load to 35 grains Blue Dot is safe, that's saving me some powder. I had hangfire issues with my 45-70 though, how would I keep it against the powder?

Pistol powders like Blue Dot are so easy to ignite you *shouldn`t* experience hangfire issues, even less of course with Unique because it is faster than Blue Dot (error edited). I never noticed any position sensibility with that powder, either.

A Quickload calculation gives 1729 fps and 30.053 psi for 20 grain Unique and a 200 grain bullet. I never tried that for myself so be careful and work up.

Cool, thanks! I'll start at 15 grains...that should at least get the bullet out the barrel.

Hodgdon has Youth Loads for the .300 Win Mag and a formula for others. They use H4895.
