Dear Sirs. I hunt medim animals (boars and deers) in "drive in" hunting in Spain ("Montera"). I intend to use the 9.3X62 ,for this hunting. Because we shoot the game moving or running at short to medium ranges, and we want to get a great and reliable expansion in order to "stop" the game under its tracks, so it is desirable to use light bullets (200-235 grains) at medium to high velocities. Do you have any data to reload this caliber in order to get a muzzle velocity from 2700-2800 ft/s with these bullets? Best Regards

232 gr Norma Oryx or Vulkan 59gr VVN135 MV 2,600fps 24" barrel 60gr and 2630fps was possible but given the rapid use the rifle gets while everyone queus for the running boar range I erred on the side of caution. You might get a bit faster MV with RL15 or some such double base powder but I think 2,700fps would be stretching it a touch bearing in mind Spanish sun and repeat shots etc. The oryx is now discontinued in this weight. Having used it on moose I can see why as it really does expand - overly for such heavy game IMHO. The Vulkan allthough traditionaly viewed as poorer has in fact worked better for me. Accuracy and recoil is excellent.

Especially on driven hunts shot placement is not always perfect and often your not presented a nice broadside shot. I'm not familiar with the Spanish wild boar, but I assume that they can be pretty tough. Therefor I would go for a bullet that ensures good penetration and not for one that gives maximum expansion. In 9,3x62 a couple of my friends use the 286 grain Nosler Partition with good results. The front part opens up pretty good and the rear part gives you plenty of penetration.
