I'm getting my 9.3 X 62 ready for elk hunting this fall and have worked up a load that shows no signs of pressure at all.....IT'S 59 grains of varget behind a 250 grain accubond and Hornady brass. I'm using a Winchester magnum primer as well. My concern is that's it is quite a bit over Nosler's max data. Can some of you quickload gurus estimate the pressure and velocity?....My chrony is dead as well.... BTW...it's a Model 98 mauser with a Douglas barrel of 24 " /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Sounds like a good load for your rifle. Book data varies as you well know.

Remember, a lot of the load data for the 9.3x62 originated in the 1920's and is on the low end of the pressure curve with the current crop of powders. I load a similar load, 59.5 gr RL-15, behind a 250 gr Nosler Partition in my .35 Whelen with no apparent pressure problems. The .35 Whelen is a smaller capacity case and has a smaller base area than the 9.3x62. My best guess is that you are probably okay with your load in your 9.3x62. The manufacturer's handbook gives a range of 56.0 - 60.0C for Varget (AR2208) with a generic 250 gr bullet. The C after the 60.0 meaning it's a compressed load, so you are not exceeding their recommendations (although they don't say what rifle, bullet, cases or primers they used). -- Promise me, when I die, don't let my wife sell my guns for what I told I her I paid for them.

While not Varget, I did work up John Barsness' pet load of 66.0 Big Game and a 286 Partition. That thing shot absolutely superbly in my Merkel Helix, delivering solid 1" performance at 100 yards. I haven't chrono'ed it but I think I'm just over 2,500 fps with it. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!
