hi,

looking forward to buying a kinetic puller soon. Does the RCBS Pow'r puller use just one collet for all calibers? or does it require a set of collets? i'll need it for .30, .323 .375, .423 and .416

thanks,

Zubin

Yes, one collet for 22 to 45 cal. Mine tends to sling a little powder when the bullet pops out of the brass.

I had one but they are a pain. Better to buy the RCBS die and puller collets.

I find my kinetic puller extreemly handy, can have the odd dud reload done before I could wonder which press to put a collet die into.
Sometimes it's as simple as moving out a bullet seated too deep.
Though a friend had an RCBS break, the top screw on cap of all things. They sometimes come loose after a wack or two so it pays to check tighten them.

Anyway, depends, my Quintex (Sp) has been going about 30 years, couple of light taps for heavy projectiles.
But for many light weight crimpt rounds like .223 Mil., sure a collet would be better.

I bought one and used it once. It was a "PIA"

I then bought a collet type. Worked fine. But the best method is to be careful and not have to pull anything.

Back to the still.

The kinetic bullet puller is handy for doing a few rounds. If you have a lot of rounds to pull you may want to look into buying a die and collet puller. Stick some aspirin packing cotton in the bottom of your kinetic puller to catch the bullet. That way you don’t deform the bullet nose and you can use them again in another round.

I have the RCBS, works fine for small quantities, I have broke the cap, they replaced it free, and even sent a couple of them just in cast

Here’s a website you may want to look at.

The kinetic bullet pullers do just fine. I put a foam ear plug in the bottom of mine. Others like the collet pullers, and for jacketed rifle bullets they do have advantages. However, the collet pullers will not pull a wad cutter or semi-wadcutter from pistol brass, in my experience. Both tools have their place.

For the kinetics, I don't use the factory supplied case holder. I just use the appropriate RCBS/Lyman/Lee shell holder. It is quicker for me.

The RCBS Kinetic bullet puller somes with 2 collets. One is for smaller rounds like 223 etc. and the larger is for Magnums etc.. I've got both a Kinetic puller and the RCBS Collet type. I tend to use the Kinetic one more...................DJ

the hornady puller is better. I use my RCBS unit for doing a few rounds.Throw out the shellholder provided and use the shellholder that comes with the dies, the one you use in your press.

Another vote for the collet style puller I first had the kinetic. Didn't like it at all The "uinversal" collet in the kinetic puller didn't hold often and had many bullets damaged even without the bullet coming out. Just my two cents.

I use a kinetic puller. It is dead slow. If the case is crimped it is even slower. I am looking for a collet type puller at the moment.

I have both a RCBS kinetic puller and a RCBS collet puller with several sizes of collets. I have had good luck with both of them. As mentioned eariler, a piece of foam or rag in the bottom of the kinetic puller will keep the bullet from being deformed. Cotton works, but it also holds the grains of powder.

For all around use with multiple calibers and not very many pullings, I like the kinetic puller.

The Hornady Lever puller is quick as can be.I recently pulled some 60 rounds in a few minutes. If the round is crimped I treat it as I would a militart round in that I use a die to seat the round a little deeper, then use the puller. If set up and used correctly , there should be no damage to the projectile.
