I would like to use .264 140 gr. Lead bullets in my .264. So far I had not good luck. The problem is the powder. The slow burning powders like 4831 H 570 etc should not be reduced more than 5% or o. That means I have to go to a FASTER burning Powder.I have tried 2400 16 gr. with so-so results. The case is large and I wonder if someone has gotten good results with some powder in a large case shooting lead bullets. Thanks

Best Accuracy for reduced loads in a Magnum case, has been either SR 4759 or Blue Dot for me.... I am currently playing with development of load data using Unique also... DYou didn't say what kind of velocity you were looking for.... But with Blue Dot, I'd recommend starting out at about 15 grains.... and work up to about 30 to 32 grains as max....HOwever, work up as always.. No filler is needed as the powder is not case position sensitive....large rifle primers work just fine... For SR 4759, you can start at 15 grains also... and work it up to about 35 grains... once again, not position sensitive for reliable ignition.... Accuracy has been real good in my experiences with both powders... good luck.. seafire

Thanks for the info. I had good luck loading 405 gr. 45/70 with 13.5 gr. UNIQUE. Held down by paper wad. However this is a straight case whereas the 264 has a narrow opening.Using 16-18 gr. of 2400 in the 264 the vel. was low and it sounded like an airgun. I am looking for a 1800 ft vl. I horded a lot of surplus powder 40 years ago and using a 200 gr. lead bullet in my 306 with 25.0 gr of T-VEN i get good accuracy and 1850 ft/sec. This powder was brand new and sold for $ 20.00 per 8lbs.It was to be used by the venezuelan Goverment to be used in an experimental 7mm round. marlin
