Yes, it will be a good starter kit; and it will load pistol; BUT, before you buy anything, get a good reloading manual and read it cover to cover. Do not believe much you see on you tube. Read first, then ask here. The net is full of bogus information, but here on AR, it is mostly, good. Mostly. I like Hornady books, but get as many as you can. Lee is good too.

+1 on getting good reading material. Lee, Nosler, Hornady, Lyman, Speer, and Sierra in no particular order is top shelf. **************************The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.

Welcome, Bob! +1 on the reloading manual! Many here have their own preferences. I'm partial to the Lee manual, mainly because it has a lot of "general back-ground" info. Once you get by Richard Lee tooting his own horn (frequently) it's a wealth of info. I don't load anything too exotic, but continually keep SAFETY first. Go slow, read a lot, ask questions, start with lower power loads and work up gradually. Loading can be enjoyable and actually therapeutic! Doug Wilhelmi NRA Life Member

yes I see there is a bunch of different books out there this one I bought is a bit confusing in that all the info is written for I think a more experienced loader.I did look online at a few other books and seems lee was a preferred choice also I see hornaday. It is gonna be a few weeks to get my head around what I should by now.I thought the Lee press I was looking at was a good deal, and it may be but there are a few others to consider. as far as a starter press it may be the way to go.now do most reloaders deal with midway for supply's?I am seeing amazon with some supply's to.I would expect brand is a very important option when buying supply's. thank you for the help I am going to start reloading I just want to get informed properly.

Brand is not important; getting what you NEED is. Learn the basics first. Midway, Midsouth, Grafs; check those first. Amazon? No. They just sell everything.

Figure out which brand of bullets you want to start with, and buy their manual. Then, a press and dies/shell holder. Rich

I started out with a Lyman turret press all-in-one package. It worked for me. It included the press, lube pad, powder scale, case trimmer and a few other things. I would do a package like this for a beginner. I am not sure the brand matters that much starting out. They have gone way up in price since I bought mine, but it is still the way to start out right. I know several companies make them. I do not deal with Midway, but it is just a personal preference. Midsouth, Grafs, Natchez, are all good. Here is an example: Crusher kit I would get at least two books. Like most here, I have several. I like Sierra and Nosler, but have Lee, Hodgdon and Hornady as well. It allows you to compare loads. As for brass and powders, look around in the favorite load section here. I pick what most people like, if I have no experience with the particular round. For example, my 30-06(s) all like IMR4350 just fine with any weight bullet. My 308(s) like Reloder 15, same way, any bullet. Start with the common and you can work for the refinement and searching later. For pistols, I use TiteGroup. I started with Unique, but found I didn't like it as well. Those are things you will learn over time and personal preference. For brass, you may have to go with what is available. Winchester and Remington are safe places to start. Same with primers. For bullets, it will depend on what game you are after or just paper killing. Again, if you are not hunting anything big and bad, then Sierra is my starting choice. They are consistent and accurate. You can buy Nosler blems cheaply at Shooters Pro Shop. I buy a lot of bullets there now. Good luck.
