Accurate Powders
Has anyone used any of the Accurate line of powders? I was thinking of playing around with some of them probably the 2520, XMR 3100, or the 2700. I am going to be using it in my 257 Roberts. Any thoughts will be much appreciated. Slim

I've used them. They work good. Except for 2015 I've never had one that worked best in any gun I tried, but that's just my guns. 3100 works particularly well in 300 WinMag. A buddy consistently gets half inch groups at pretty high velocity and no other propellant even comes close in his gun.

Slim, In the past I have tried AA2520 in the one .308 I once owned. It worked better for me than W748 and Reloder 15. That was in my rifle though. I did notice a slight static problem in my RCBS powder measure with 2520 powder.-----------Chainsaw

I've used a couple of the Accurate powders, with very good results. In .223, 2015 gives me the best muzzle velocity. In .308 (165 grain bullet), 2520 is very close to the best powder I've tried. I do get very slightly better results from Varget, but not by much. For my 6.5 Swede, using 129 grain bullets, Accurate 4350 works very well. The only application where I don't like their 4350 is in my 30-06. In that case, pressures seemed higher and muzzle velocity was lower. Also, the temperature coefficient was around 2.5 fps/degree F.

In our town, Accurate 4350 is $13.50, as opposed to $16-18 for everything else. That helps make the Swede a cheap gun to shoot, as well as being potent and fun.

AA2230 proved to be more consistent in my wife's 223 Remington compared to the old standard IMR 3031. Tighter groups. Lower SD's. And a bit cleaner.

On the other hand, XMR 4350 produced identical results when compared to IMR 4350 in a 45-70 Sharps'. Though it too was a bit cleaner burning.

Good stuff. Try it.

Gee, I thought I read where he was asking about a .25-06 and Accurate porders...

Then I read the replies and they concerned 300 magnums, 308, 223, 6.5 and 30-06.

Did I miss something in the translation? In the question?

Since the original question did NOT indicate the bullet weight, I suggest the poster go to http://stevespages.com/page8c.htm
