Sounds like most of you like the hot cor bullets on deer. What are your opinions of the 160 grain hot cors out of a 7-08 (around 2500 or 2600 fps) on black bear? Just curious, as we have a hunt planned next fall, and a large supply of these bullets in the house, and they shoot well out of my wife's rifle. By the way, I'll be loading my 7mm Rem mag with plain jane 175 grain Hornadys, although I'll also be taking my 45-70 with 405 grain Remingtons along.

hot-cors+moderate velocity=dead whitetails. i like the .311 150-grainers from my mosin-nagant m-44 sporters, at 2,500-2,600 fps.

Bwana-be, yup. Its kinda an extension of magnumitis. Some dirty rag writer has revealed that merely owning a loudenboomer doesn't guarentee instant kills at incomprehensible distances and so now the quest is for a magic bullet that compensates for no skill, no practice, poor shot placement and a "poke and hope" kinda hunting ethics. Oh, and, of course, the more it cost, the better it must be. Riiiiiiight.
