What is the bullet diameter of this round? 404 like it says or 416? If it's 416, would be very similar to 416 Howell. I notice the bullet weights are the same as the 416 Dakota but standard length case like 330, 375, etc.

The .404 Dakota is just like the .404 Jeffery it's a .423" caliber. The Dakota uses a 30 degree shoulder rather than 404s 8.1 degree shoulder. In addition they have taken some of the excessive body taper out of the Jeffery case which providers even more case capacity.

Performance wise the Dakota is netting 2400 fps with a 400gr bullet. I am sure you can push the load beyond this level. Call Dakota at 605 347-4686 and they will send you the latest information on the case.

Evening,
The following link is to their "brass" web page with all of the dimensions and a drawing.

For you AccuLoad owners; the drawings look pretty familiar, don't they.

Regards,
