Can I deprime cases with new (unused) primers with my press or will they explode? I forgot to resize some cases before i primed them.Should I just fire the cases in my rifle(no powder no bullet)??????????thanks

Take the decapping stem out of your sizeing die and size them.

I have deprimed cases with live primers without a problem. Just go easy and keep your eyes closed. Make sure there is no powder near you.

Joe, Take the decapping stem out and simply size them. Yeah, you can deprime without setting them off, but you are taking a chance of losing something important, such as your hearing or your eyesight. Besides, even if you got the primer out perfectly, do you really want to take a chance this primer will end up in the round that determines the hunt of a lifetime? RobertD

As Joe mentioned you can size the primed case by pulling the decapping rod. Or if you really want to punch the primers out the safest way is to drop some penetrating oil in the case bottoms and let them sit. The oil will ruin them. OR You can decap them with the normal proceedure. Wear glasses at least! I've done it. I try NOT to. Then again IF they are close enough to spec, load them and fire them. I have done this with new brass for both my 7mm RM and a .257 Roberts with no problem. Whatever makes you smile!

I HAVE DONE WHAT OLE JOE SUGGESTED....... I USE A LEE SPEED DIE TO LOAD WITH AND THEY ARE REALY EASY TO FIX THINGS THAT WAY........

Used to be the best priced brass around here for .41 & .44 Mag was primed brass. Because I loaded many reduced loads for practice I would deprime the new brass as I sized them because I didn't want to use mag primers. In doing this to hundreds of brass I have never had one go off on me and neither has my mentor. But don't be unsafe--wear safety glasses and ear protection. Slim
