I am trying to find some help with 9mm loads. I am using blemished 115 gr JHP I got from Midway. According to which reloading manual I look at I am seeing starting loads from 4.0 to 6.3. I have Lyman, Speer and Hornaday. I am using UNique powder for these loads. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

They probably won't reliably cycle the action @ anything less than 4.8gr IMO. Try 5.1gr-5.5gr for a good working load. I've gone as high as 6gr w/ no problems.

With a feed ramp that intrudes .180" and case webs at .160" [standard for 9mm], they too much Unique will not fit behind a 115 gr bullet and make the 1.169" max over all length.

The max book load may be 6.3 gr, but the most that will fit is 7.4 gr.

I have shot 7.4 gr behind 115 and 124 gr and it is a wimpy load, compared to the +P+++++++++++ that a typical 9mm is capable of.

To give you an idea of how much safety margin there is with 9mm, consider the fact that lawyered up law suit paranoid corporations with deep pockets sell 9mm +P+ ammo to everyone.

What is in the load books is -P-.

I have had good luck with IMR 4756 with 115 grain bullets in the 9mm Luger out of my CZ 85 Combat. Other powders will work too, but 6.3 grains of IMR 4756 delivers outstanding accuracy.

I load all my plinking ammo with the same propellant charge

9mm, 45ACP, 38spl(cast) 357mag(cast)

5.4grains of unique.

Why? Because it allows me to NEVER adjust that
particular powder measure.
