I am about to take delivery of a custom 7x57 and set it up to suit the 150gn Scirocco. I thought I would do a section of one to put on the display shelf with other cartridge 'stuff'. When I ground ( carefully) the bullet I found a void that is .287 long and .105 wide up against one side of the bullet. This was a randomly selected bullet from a new box and has dented my confidence for the Swift. I emailed the company but got no answer. what are the views of others on the swift.

My experience with A-Frames has been excellent but Sciroccos have not been accurate for me. Voids like you describe can cause this easily.

I no longer buy them.

I have limited experience with the Sciroccos. But when I did try them out, I got iffy results accuracy wise. No need to look any further than a Nosler AccuBond these days - equivalent to the Scirocco, rare not to get good accuracy.

Hey Von Gruff, Thank you for the post, very informative.

I've seen enough people mention Accuracy related problems with the Scirocco that I just never got around to trying any of them for myself.

Before the current Scirocco design(design 2?), people were mentioning they would completely unfold inside Deer. And that they fouled Bores very heavily. Pure speculation on my part that Design 1, had the Jacket Alloy too soft, to thin or both.

Even a Void like " O " would cause Accuracy issues.
-----

The size Void you mention should be extremely easy to detect by Weight Sorting. I'd guess the " O " amount should be about 2-3grains. Come to think of it, I have a very old sack of #7 shot(not 7 1/2) and I'll try to remember to weigh one of them.
-----

Hey Vapo, Is any size Void going to shoot well? Looks like the farther it would be from the CenterLine, the more effect a Void would have, size of the Void too.

The Bullet Von Gruff discovered on a Junke machine would have had a Quality Department all fired up. It gets worse the more I think about it.

Surely they will offer to replace all the ones he has at 2 to 1. Do believe I'd Weight Sort them too.

I don't see where Von Gruff found the void via Junke machine. Unless he has edited his post to what we read now.

You are correct, poor wording on my part.

Should have said, "If the void had been found on a Junke or Juneke(I may have that spelled all wrong too)...

I appreciate the catch. Thanks. Which spelling is correct?

I've never been overly impressed with the Sciroccos, and that includes both the originals and the current IIs.

The early bullets were renown for heavy fouling, and I never acheived what I'd consider acceptable and repeatable accuracy levels.

The IIs don't foul as badly but still didn't attain the levels of accuracy I demand.

Thanks for all the feedback. It seems the Swift company is unwilling to engage with shooters. I remember reading on an African web about the AF and a series of failures. The writer contacted Swift and sent the remaining bullets for thier examinatin but they never responded to that or follow-up requests. This has put me off them completely. Even weight sorting would always have me wondering. Will probably go back to the SST as a fallback as it has worked well on our deer and goats. Will try the accubond .

On ever loading forum there are many stories about accuracy problems with the Scirrocco and because of their price (and the rediculous price of their manual) I never got around to trying them...

Now I know I never will.
