Has anybody tried this? Would it be ok for a magnum load?

Im trying to find a press that I dont have to bolt to a table, and it seems this might do the job.

Nortman,

Check out Harrell's Precision, http://www.harrellsprec.com and check out their press....comes in three sizes and clamps to the bench.

Joe, the Harrell's press is not an arbor press.

Ovis: so, I would just have to turn the handle on the underside to tight it to the table?

What I need, is a small press, and nothing that I would have to drill a hole in my bench.

Nortman,

You are correct.....you would only have to turn the handle to clamp it to he table.....no hole drilling.

Concho's idea of the Lee Hand Press is a good one....I have two of those and they work well even when loading my .375Ultramag.

I have limited space....the Harrell is compact and will work well with no hole drilling. The Lee Hand Press is inexpensive and will work well also.

I have a Sinclair arbor press to use with my bench rest dies. The B-Surare Super Mag Arbor Press is supposed to let you full length resize brass the Sinclair arbor press will not.
I have a Lee hand press they are great, after I bought a tap and cleaned out the threads so the dies would screw in and out it works fine for straight walled cases.

I resized some 7rem Mag brass for a friend (I do not know if they were originally shot in his rifle) when he got to the range they would not chamber. I later found out the Lee Hand press did not have the strength to completely resize the brass it must have sprung slightly. Anyway I pulled the bullets ran the same shells that wouldn’t fit through the same dies but in a RCBS Rock Chucker press and did not have the same problem.

The Lee is great for seating bullets or re-seating them deeper at the range while working up a load.

Please don’t think I am trashing the Lee Hand Press I am not it is a great tool if used within its limits.
