I tested the powder(IMR4064) Barnes recommends for best accuracy with their 180gr tsx bullet and got the following velocities.I used Win cases, fed 210 primers and molly coated 180gr tsx bullets. They list a max load of 48grs and give 2639 as the max velocity.I used 49 and 50 and got 2578 and 2674 from a 22 inch barrel.I am withholding the group size until I figure out what caused a couple of fliers out at 300yds.

shootaway its not the best powder, i was going to suggest some NORMA MRP or WIN WXR but those powders like to burn in a longer tube to get the most benefit out of them, i use a load of 61 gns of NORMA MRP /180 tsx for a vel 2850 but mine is a 24 inch tube daniel

my case was winchester primer was federal gold match210 match57.1 grains of h4350, no i did not shoot em at 200 yrds that was the first time i shot em peroid in my rifle ,and i was helping a friend break-in his new 270wsm in a 1885 browning single shot rifle, i do weigh all my brass a sererate by 1 grain each, never mix different brass unless they weigh the same, i''m a big fan of Barnes bullets and when i load them up for hunting i test them out to 625 yrds, haven''t been disapointed with ANY as yet!!!! but i play with them all..smile best of luck...regards jjmp

ned,I did try R22 and I am getting 2689 with a slightly compressed load of 61grs.A heavily compressed 62grs gives me about 2750.I I am waiting for my order of vv550 so I can try that.It seems that weighing cases does not solve the problem and Winchester cases just don't work well with this cartridge.

My pet load for my 30-06 and the 180gn Barnes is 55gn of IMR4350, in Federal brass, with a Winchester large rifle primer. I’ve gotten some 3 shot groups at 100 yards, with all three holes touching.
Doc,I tried H4350 and got better results with R22.I am trying to get something that will group in an inch at 200yds with a velocity above 2700.So far I got velocity but I am getting to many fliers that are ruining my group. From past experience this problem was solved when I switched to Lapua cases.I just ordered some today and will restart the process.Remington and Winchester cases have worked well in some rifles but not in others.

shootaway i only use LAPUA cases ....have a look at my pressure data posted by collins for me i tested the 180 tsx with H 4350 and NORMA MRP ...you will see the vel/pressure your running at...just take into account your barrel length, the pressure barrel was 24 inches havent really shot the tsx for groups as im still not sold on them as a hunting proj, i think the north fork is a better proj, i have used the 200 tsx on scrub bulls with good results and great penetration, but from time to time they dont open up, shed there petals when bone is hit at to high vel etc etc...thus the MRX Daniel

I allways try IMR-4350 1st with an 06. But it does not allways satisfy. With a 180 grain bullet I think the RL-22 is a good candidate and don't look past RL-19 or H-414. IMR-4064 works good with lighter bullets, my .308 loves it , so do my Roberts and 7X57...tj3006
