I'll probably fire form new brass using 158 gr JHP's and load 200 gr Hornady and 225 gr Nosler BT's for this rifle. Rifle's a Rem. 700 CDL, 1 in 16" twist. Any suggestions for powders and primers to try based on your experience are much appreciated (I've got about 10 manuals and the powder company freebie stuff but want know some firsthand info). Thanks. -WSJ

WSJ, I started loading 53.0 gr IMR 3031 with a 200 gr Hornady PSP about 20 years ago and haven't found anything better so far. It will group under 1" at 100 yards out of my rifle. I do still use RWS/Alcan LR primers, but it would be worth a try with another brand.

I load 220 grain bullets of my own manufacture in front of 57 grains of IMR 4895. I get an average of 2645 fps.

wsj, I would first try Reloader 15 and 225 gr Nosler BT's. Start around 55.0 gr and work your way up. It's a pretty easy cartidge to load. Other possible powders include IMR 3031, IMR 4064, Varget and IMR 4320. All these powders will do a good job for you. BigBullet
