I have the Sierra Infinity 5 Suite and have been trying to master it. I am a bit confused. I shoot a 24" RRA AR-15 clone with a 1:8 twist barrel. I have loaded up Berger 80 gr VLD's and using Mr. Walt Berger's reloading data he sent me. His loading data shows from 22.1 grains to 23.3 grains of Varget powered by a WSP primer. At 23.3 grains (max) of Varget (1/2inch groups) the data shows me to be at about 2750fps. (I know..get a chrono...LOL!) In the ballistic software suite, if I put a 100 yard zero I will be approximately 3.79 inches low at 200 yards. If I use a 200 yard zero bullet flight is approximately 1.89 inches high as it passes 100 yards. Since I am trying to understand some ballistics where am I going wrong in my thinking? If I am zeroed at 100 yards do I turn my scope turrets up to go 3.79 inches to hit dead on at 200 or do I raise them the 1.89 inches. To add to this, if I just look over at the drop in inches it shows a drop from 2.4 inches to 10.1 inches which is like 7 inches of drop. The reason I ask this is because I only have access to a 100 yard range. I was hoping to gain some insight without the advantage of a longer range. Will that software give you your points in MOA? It makes it a lot easier to understand. 1 MOA is approx 1" per 100yd (1" @ 100, 3" @ 300, 10" @ 1000 etc) 3.79"@200 is 1.9 MOA 1.89"@100 is 1.9 MOA "Drop" figures (the 3rd thing you mentioned) assume that the bullet is fired with the bore perfectly flat. If it was me, I'd set the scope so that the center of your group is 2" above your aiming point at 100yd. | |||

Yes Tailgunner, it does give me MOA if I change somethings around. So it makes sense to me. I'll try to set the scope at 2" at 100 yards.
