I just acquired a used Mini Thirty and will no doubt try some handloads in it. A quick look thru Midway and the only Boxer brass they listed was Lapua. I guess 7.62x39 must not be popular enough in the US for Rem or Win to furnish unprimed brass in that cal. Go figure. BTW, anybody have any input regarding best bullet diameter for this rifle, .308" or .311"

Beeman, Having reading your posts before, I know you are a man who put himself thru to get an education while raising a family. I was part of the generation the hippies came from. I always thought it was stupid, not seeing the rationale in avoiding the barber shop, avoiding the bath tub, pointing out everything wrong the source that you derive your existance from. In other words, I never bought into the bullshit. What kills me is the 1960s is long over, but I live in an area that these people live no different than they did in the 1960s. In the early to mid 1970s, ( I graduated college in 1975), I was a strong performer in the Department of my Major. I studied political science and law. I had the idea of wanting to be an attorney and fight for the rights of the down trodden. Just like the concept of the American Civil Liberties Union, but they and I had a major difference in opinion of What was right and what was wrong. I was finally approached by the head of my department, who was also my advisor, to join the American Communist Party. Come to find out, every teacher in that Dept was a member and all had voted to ask me to join. At the time, my dad was in the USAF and retiring as a Bird Col after 26 yrs of service to his country. I had no intention of joining the communist party or being a part of it. My refusal, made my grades suffer dramatically. I even plagerized a paper written by one of the instructors when he was in college, and he fluncked it, saying it was garbage. I used that to go to campus administration, to fight back. Campus Admin couldn't be bothered. Yeah, it is easy to be liberal and communistic when you are born with a silver spoon in your mouth and you have the rights to practice communism. but most of these people would never give up their comfy position and incomes in life to really become part of communism as written by Carl Marx. It is all just an act, fooling themselves into thinking they are some source of enlightment, when all they are is a source of idiocy.

Companies have two phases: 1) Started by innovative risk taker, and grows exponentially. Then a couple of bad quarters, and the investors decide it is time for a change. 2) Bean counter, hold the fort down guy takes over and maintains market share. Growth stops. I have worked as an engineer for both types of companies, and I can tell you: 1) The innovative product development will work the engineers round the clock. 2) If an engineering project schedule can tolerate no risks, then all that can be done is a re packaging of an existing product. -- A society that teaches evolution as fact will breed a generation of atheists that will destroy the society. It is Darwinian.

Seafire, from experience, I can assure you that you are confusing MBA's with accountants. If you think this country is hamstrung by lawyers, you've never met an accountant running a company..... LOL! Dutch.

I sat on the management board on a manufacturing company with the GM, manufacturing manager and of course the "Comptroller". At every meeting after the GM would give an overview on business the "Comptroller" would take over the meeting. We spent hours on listening and discussing "absorbtion of overhead". For instance they would run machines making parts when they had no orders so as to be able to report that they absorbed the overhead. Of course when a real slowdown was needed the first thing to go was the material handlers! That company is out of business. It has been replaced by smaller companies run by hands on owners.

Quote: The classic example of this was the Lee/Mequeon deal. Richard Lee started a wildly innovative company which grew until the bean counters took over. Bean counters wanted to maximize profits on the existing product line. Lee wanted to continue inventing new stuff so he split and started over. Bean counters didn't last five years. Lee invented them right out of business.

Federal also made some of the best .22 RF ammo in existence, then dumped it in the toilet.

Seafire, just because an accountant manages to get an MBA doesn't mean he's no longer an accountant! Accountancy, by definition, is a rearward looking profession. An accountant managing a company is as efficient as someone driving a car using only the mirrors. If I would have a choice of getting rid of the lawyers or the accountants, I'd fire the accountants. Flat tax, anyone? Dutch.
