I finally plan on getting my Heavy Fluted barrel Savage 22-250 out and shooting. It is the newer model with the Acra Trigger. Before I spend a lot of time I have a question as I never loaded for this caliber before. Please give me some great loads to start with and are the custom bullets such as Bergers a good way to go? This will just be used for paper punching My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost. | ||

I've used the Bergers and like them....good accuracy. I've also found Speer's TNT to be a fine bullet and also the Hornady V-max and the Nosler BT.....all good bullets.....but most all .224 diameter bullets will work fine as there's no room for poor competition in the caliber....it's a varmint game and accuracy wins every time. You'll also find that the old Hornady flat base 53 grain hollow point is a sleeper worthy of your cash. H-414 is my powder in the .22-250 but also use IMR 4895 and H-380 /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
