I was just given SEVEN POUNDS of the stuff and I've nver used it. Looks like it's close to RL-25 or so? Anybody use it and if so what calibers? Specific load data appreciated as well. jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

You could take a look at this page: http://www.lapua.com/index.php?id=850 on the right there is a link to download their reloading guide (PDF). N165 is my favourite powder for the 300WM and the 270WSW; it certainly doesn't allow very high velocities, but gives good accuracy in my rifles.

I have tested Vihtavouri N165 in my 22/250AI, 25/06, and 25/06AI, and found that when used with the appropriate bullet weight it will give good accuracy and a competitive velocity. I have found that it is about 1.0 grain slower burning than Reloader 22 and H4831sc, and about 3.0 grains faster burning than Re25. I have included some of my data from the 3 rifles below: 22/250AI 69 grain Sierra HPBT 42.0 - IMR 4831 - 3402 44.0 - Re 22 - 3416 44.5 - Viht N165 - 3405 75 grain Hornady Amax 43.0 - Re 22 - 3231 43.5 - Viht N165 - 3231 45.0 - Win WMR - 3276 25/06 100 grain Nosler BT 58.0 - H4831sc - 3232 58.0 - Viht N165 - 3255 59.0 - Viht N165 - 3342 25/06AI 100 grain Nosler BT 58.0 - IMR 4831 - 3469 61.0 - Re 22 - 3501 62.0 - Re 22 - 3580 62.0 - Viht N165 - 3499 63.0 - Viht N165 - 3562 115 grain Nosler BT 58.0 - IMR 7828 - 3281 59.0 - Viht N165 - 3305 61.0 - Re 25 - 3218 62.0 - Re 25 - 3293 63.0 - H1000 - 3271 Good luck and hope that the above is of some help.
