I've been looking for a powder to use in both the .308 win and the 7x57. Does anybody have any experience with win 760 in either of these calibers?
Thanks

My riflesmith uses W760 in his 7x57 with 140gr ballistic tips. He gets 2,800fps and good accuracy, I doubt he would give a load as it is worked up for his individual rifle.

You question is very vague...

You can use W-760 in the .308 with bullet weights from 110 grains to 225 grains.

And in the 7x57 with bullet weights from 100 grain to 168 grain.

That being said...I found that W-760 was my choice of powder in the 7x57 with bullets that weighed 110, 115 to 120, 139, 140, 154 to 162, and 168. Whereas it was NOT my powder of choice in any of the .308 bullet weights.

Sorry if I am a little vague as to what I am looking for. I am looking for one powder to use for both cartridges (7x57 and .308). This is necessary for economic reasons. I don't have any experience with winchester powders and I'm looking for other peoples opinions on this one, or any other applicable powders for these calibers.
The winchester online reloaders manual shows 760 exclusively for the 7x57 with nice velocities at very reasonable pressures. It shows a number of useable loads for the .308 with 150 and 180 grain bullets also. This powder seems to have a lot of good overlap for these two cartridges. I'm not looking for target or super duper loads for these, just want decent accuracy at reasonable velocities and pressures with moderate to heavy bullets.
Any and all opinions are welcome.

I would say to give it a try...you have nothing to loose but one pound of powder if it doesn't work, and if it does, then you have saved yourself a lot a anguish.

When you pick a bullet weight, go to my pages and look-up the loading range I found useful...
