I have had a Sako in 17 Rem for a number of years and have not done anything with it until now. Like most, I have a large quantity of 223 brass. Is it practical to make 17 brass from 223? And is it as simple as running 223 brass through a 17 full length sizer and trimming? Lou | ||

The 17 Remington is actually based on the 222RemMag, which has a longer neck than the 223Rem. If you size 223 brass into 17 Rem you will end up with a short neck. You could probably shoot them with no trouble, but who knows, it may develop a little erosion ring in front of the case mouth. Might as well just order a couple hundred 17 Rem brass as you will also need a step-down die for sizing 223-17. If you try it in a FL die it will more than likely collapse the neck.
