You fail to give sufficient background for the necessary caveats, etc. However, for brevity's sake I am assuming you have proper press, lubricant and dies for the 7-30 Waters.

1. Lube .30-30 case
2. Run into 7-30 die
3. Continue to load with standard starting load
4. Shoot (aka fireform)
5. Reload as you would any other case.

If you are using a TC Contender or Encore, it is useful to size the cases just enough so that when closing the action it will function correctly, but no more. This is to allow the case to headspace on the shoulder, a good thing in either type rifle.

You should have further questions or comments, please post here.

It's real easy. Get a good set of dies 1st. Take barrel off of reciever and drive out the small pin that holds in extractor. Remove extractor from barrel. Now take your brass (new works better) and run it into your 7-30 Waters FL die untill the shell drops in flush into your barrel. There should be approx .002- .003 of case sticking out of barrel. Now make sure your gun will shut.(size a little more if it won't) Don't be alarmed about the double neck that you now have on case. Now load a reduced load and fire-form the brass. You'll now have a 7-30 Waters case.

I forgot to say install the extractor after you have sized the brass to the proper size. Once you have found the correct setting you do not have to repeat this. Unless you change to a different set of dies or press etc.

All above info is good--but one more piece of advice--you may have to trim after doing your "resize". I use medium loads after initial resizing and find them plenty accurate to go right into the field hunting if you like!

While all my brass has been factory Federal, I came into a quantity of .30-30 once-fired. I also got a wild hair about a small game load for the 7-30 Waters. What do you know, I've now combined the two projects into loading the pre-fireformed .30-30 RP brass with a load of 16.5 gr. SR4759, CCI 200 primer and Beartooth Bullets 140 gr. LFNGC. Velocity should be in the vicinity of 1400-1500 fps but I haven't had a chance to take it to the range because of the weather. Forecast for the near future doesn't look good either. Oh well, there's other projects. [Big Grin]

A really cheap way to do this is to size the neck to 7mm and use 10 grains of Unique behind a full case of Cream of Wheat and then stuff the neck with toilet paper. The Cream of Wheat acts as a medium to blow out the case to fill the chamber. Insert the round in the chamber and PRESTO.....instant 7x30 brass. I've done hundreds of these and every one fills out perfectly. This way you don't have to use even cheap bullets.
