Does anyone out there have reload data for the hornady 220gr fp .375 bullet for use in 375hh mag?

I am mostly in need for recommended cartridge lenght C.O.L. But if you have powder data that would be nice too.

Maybe someone can check the Hornady manual ?

Regards

(takes me about six weeks to get a Hornady manual here in Sweden)

Hello Tippex,

The Hornady 220FP has a cannelure, I just seat to the cannelure, crimp, and don't worry about the OAL, it will be WELL under the 3.600" max length.

I won't post my favorite load's charge weight (because it exceeds the Hornady MAX posted by jackfish), but it uses RL15 and gets 2750 fps from my 24" M70 and 2500 fps from the 16 1/4" Encore barrel (actual Chronograph averages).

Regards, Bill

I use the 225 grain Hornady SP for a deer, elk and black bear load in the .375 H&H. Here is my load:

Winchester M70 Classic Stainless .375 H&H 24" barrel
225 grain Hornady SP seated to cannelure and crimped with a Lee Factory Crimp Die
Remington brass
CCI 250 primers
70 grains of H4895
2850 fps, chronographed at 10 feet

I wonder why I am 50 fps faster with 4.8 grains below maximum which is supposed to yield 2800 fps, but that is how it measures. I have not worked up towards the maximum, but if I did without any signs of excessive pressure I would think the velocity would be above 3000 fps. I was told by Hornady that the 225 grain SP is an Interlock and has the same jacket thickness in the nose, ogive and base as the 270 grain SP.

Thanks for the help !
I am going use the load in my Brno 602 just to get used to it, Cycling the action, firing multiple shots and so on. (and hit the target:-)
If it shoots well i might consider it for hunting deersized game, maybe as a reduced load.

Thanks again

Tippex
