GSP7338-06 brass?
Anyone make 338-06 brass? Or do you have to just make your own?

Ray, AlaskaThere is .338-06 brass at Cabela's, Midway, and others. Some of this brass has the Weatherby name on it, but maybe it's made by Norma. Also, I believe Federal and maybe Nosler will be loading .338-06 ammo soon, so their brass will be available for purchase one of these days. For the time being you can use .35 Whelen or .30-06 brass for your .338-06.

maxmanI use either 35 Whelen and neck it down, or starting with 30-06 brass, neck it up using the 35 Whelen die, and then resize it back down to 338. This lets me make sure that the headspace dimension is just right for my chamber. I've got a 24" bbl on my 338-06 AI, and wouldn't want to go any shorter. maxman

fredj338As someone mentioned, Norma has headstamped brass now available. I have been necking up .30-06 brass & have also necked down .35whelen. I thik there is a slight accuracy advantage in my rifle using the whelen brass.
