Not sure where Bob Hart (gun builder) gets his info but he said we won't see any Alliant powders until August.

Rumors abound. I've heard that nearly all components are going to the manufacturers of ammuniton. One rumor was that Federal is buying all of Alliants production. I've already had to find other loads for the powders that are unobtainium like Re7 and H-322

some of the distributors had a small amount of red and green dot two weeks ago. there was also a bit of 2400 available for around 20 minutes a few days later. it was a little earlier than usual so we probably won't see any more till next year.

There has not been very much of any brand of powder in my neck of the woods, especially Alliant.

I'm still in good shape for powder + components. I have not hoarded per se, I just have kept products in stock for my hobby. When + if this shortage calms down, it might be advisable to buy a little extra in the future; for times like these. Never mistake motion for action.

There have been three or so rounds of ammunition/component hoarding in the last decade or so. The hoarders generally fall into two categories: (1) Older guys like me (60's & 70's) who are dedicated and often life-long reloaders, and (2) younger guys who are motivated by vague and varying socio-political views. In the instance of the first group, their widows will soon be selling their late husbands' hoards for pennies on the dollar at garage and estate sales. In the instance of the second group, their views will evolve, interests will change, and other shiny objects will eventually occupy their short attention span; so when they are in need of money they will be offering their hoards to whoever has a few bucks to haul them off. In the meantime, manufacturers will catch up with demand, prices will return to economic parity, and supplies will normalize. I've been around this sport/hobby/obsession enough decades to recognize these cycles. I know that doesn't help if you're so short of ammunition/components that right now you can't pop off the rounds you'd like to on a Saturday afternoon, but don't count on ammunition components continuing to be in short supply or higher in price than their cost of manufacture requires.

I agree with Stonecreek, but this fasting has lasted longer than Ive seen in my 87 years by far. Politics get involved and everything goes to hell in a handbasket..damn politics.. Supply is hardly ever a problem, as long as the price is elastic enough! Demand, in the case of powder, has not abated, and so prices have climbed. Just check out Gunbroker. Plenty of powder of all kinds for sale, as long as one is prepared to pay the price. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
