I'm relatively new here so bear with me if this has been covered recently.

I was considering going to an electronic scale and was wondering what your thoughts might be regarding them. Any brand, model, style preferences? Likes, dislikes? Anything to stay away from? Any general opinions would be appreciated.

Grew up on beam scales. The electronics by either RCBS or Dillon are excellent, but can be damaged easily if you are not careful. They are GREAT for weighing brass or bullets to cull out lights and heavies....I want to wait till they fall below $100, but that might not happen. OHAUS makes an excellent one I used in a QC lab, but they were double the price of the others.

I would stay away from the cheaper scales. The $100 to $135 price range. These scales work, but have a tendancy to get out of calibration very easily and if you don't watch them very closely, you can get in trouble with them.

The two best that I know of are the Lyman LE-1000 and the RCBS Powder Pro Digital. These scales seem to hold calibration the best and do not suffer some of the problems encountered with the cheaper scales.

I have the RCBS model with the trickler. It works well but slowly. You also have to be careful of flourescent lights and sometimes other electrical appliances that can affect it.

I have read elsewhere that the Lyman LE-1000 is the way to go. This came from a fellow that said the Dillon scale and RCBS were fussy and inaccurate. I don't care to write what he really called them.
