My .300 Winny load is 76-78 grains of RL-22 (depending on lot), Fed 210M primer and 180 grain Nosler Partition or North Fork, preferably the later. It works for me and 7 of my Elk hunting buddies and has for a while. We all can use each others ammo when needed. It Chronographs at 3100 fps. wave Good shooting.

These guys are right on about RL-22 in the 300 Winchester. I do not load mine quite as hot but at 75.5 grains with the 180gr Nosler partition. Great combination and ragged dot accuracy. I also opt for the Federal 215M primers.

I've had really good luck with H4831 under 180s, 190s, and 200s. Gave really good SD and great accuracy.

May be worth a try.

Good Luck

Another vote for H4831. My Win Mdl 70 does well with a near max load with the 180gr bullets.

Kind regards
Carl

I think the 300winnie was made to shoot 200gr bullets. NP's or Grand Slams. If you're gonna shoot a 180gr bullet why not shoot a 30-06?? I use the old stand by. 4350.

thumb + ONE

I am partial also to the 220 grain RNs or the 220 SMP Nosler Partition! But H 1000 is the most accurate powder in my 300 Mag A Bolt...and that is while using large rifle primers, not Mag Primers..go figure bewildered

Simple, 76 to 77grs of RL-22 will drive a good 180gr bullet 250 to 350fps faster than a 30-06 will.
I do prefer 200gr bullets in the 300 Ultra though.............................DJ

My Winchester Model 70 LOVES Hornady 180gr. BTSPs over IMR4831... puts 'em in 3/4"-1" groups at 100 yards. And that makes me smile!

Good shooting,

I use H4831SC & Hornady 180 gr Spire Pt. I think the SP shoots more accurately in my rifle than the BT version. Kills Kudu, Elk, Deer, jackrabbits & rabid cats just fine. I do recommend you carry a backup on the jack rabbits - wounded ones been known to attack, can take the tire right off your truck if you can't stop 'em. When I want a heavier bullet, I shoot 300 H&H.

Here are a couple of pictures of 300 yard groups with this load;

The groups speak for the accuracy of this load.......

In my 300, I use IMR 7828 with the 200gr Nosler. Max loads get me 2900 ft/sec, and I use RL 22 with the 180gr Speer. A max load of this gets me 3065 ft/sec. Both loads are very accurate.

Thunder, the 180 and the 200's are the mainstay of the .300 Win. I love the IMR 7828, and the 200 Accubonds, but the R22 is another fabulous choice for performance loads. It's a matter of personal choice, and either gets the job done.

Most people that complain about recoil never bother to upgrade their pad!

My 9.3x62 came with a Pachmayr Decellerator and I'm ordering one to put on my .300WM. Maybe I'll give the Limbsaver model a try. I use their stuff on my bows.

Good shooting,

Nosler's 180 grain p.pt. is just what the doctor ordered for the 300 Win mag. Couple that baby with IMR 7828 and there ain't much you can't stop.

Notice I didn't say anything bad about RL 22 either?
