My votes are as follows, but keep in mind I don't know if these are really the ideal one for Blue Dot loads.

150gr Sierra ProHunter
165gr Sierra (ProH or GameK)

I'm guessing you'll get velocities around 2700-2800, perfect for the Sierras. If this is right would you get about 308Win recoil? Nice and easy deer gun. You could also spend some more on Ballistic Tips.

My take on the Blue Dot angle is "economy and light recoil." That's why I'm suggesting the Sierra stuff. You probably already clarified this, but when you fill the case and weigh the resulting charge, you're using Blue Dot, right? I could imagine someone measuring a full case of RL-22 or anything else and figuring 40% of that.

Thanks again for posting all these loads. I'm very happy to see that the 300WinMag is on the menu as well. Can't wait.

Gonzo:

Yes these loads are strictly Blue Dot.

Just to let you know, I have a testing group loaded and ready to shoot as soon as the current monsoon storm is over that we have been blessed with this week.

I have loaded up 150 grain RemingtonSp, with 28 ( 40% ) to 37 grains ( 52%) and....

the same ( 28 to 37 grains) loaded and ready to test with some 165 grain Remington SPs..
I stopped and picked some up over in Medford today. I was looking to get some 180s, but the Bullet Depot was in need of putting in a new order and were almost out of everything.

IN a 300 Win Mag, Browning A Bolt ONE with a 26 inch barrel.

I hope those two inital bullet weights and brands will suffice.

Cheers and Good shooting
