What velocities are you folks getting from a 7mm-08 with a 22 barrel and 140 grain bullets (or 139 gr. Hornadys)? Also, you dont need to mention the charge weight but I would like to hear what powder you are using. Was reading Ken Waters Pet Loads on this caliber but both of his rifles have 24 barrels. I have a short action M700 that I want to make up into a lightweight and handy 7mm-08 and it seems kind of counter productive to put a 24 barrel on it.

M7 SS, 20" barrel- 140 Nosler BT over Varget=2723 fps. The 140 Sierra SP over IMR4350=2554 fps. M700 24" Walther barrel-139 Hornady SST over .5 gr less Varget=2785 fps. The 140 Sierra SP over IMR4350=2667 fps. Don`t worry too much about velocity loss from your 22" barrel. I can`t see you giveing up anything with the shorter lenght. BTW H414 and R19 show similar variation in vel in my rifles........Joe
