I have narrowed down my bullet choice for my impending 9.3x62 cz to either the 232 gr Norma Vulcan or the woodleigh 250 gr bullets has anyone used both and can tell me the adv/disadv of either bullet. I like to choose a bullet and then find a safe load for that bullet and hunt. I am not interested in splitting hairs etc. I am happy with hunting accuracy. I will not shoot heavier bullets in my 9.3 as I want to split the diff between my 180 gr 30/06 loadings and my 300 gr .375 loadings.

Regards PC.

I've not used the woodleigh but I have used the vulkan extensively for practice and on a couple of large fallow and one moose bull calf.

They are quite tough bullets and actualy tougher than the bonded core Oryx bullet of equivalent weight. They seem to open well and when tested on dry and wet media showe a nice mushroom.
No evidence of core jacket seperation even though they are not bonded, interlocked etc.

They also show good accuracy (1") and a usefull trajectory advantage over the heavier bullets.

My load has a MV of 2,600fps with 59gr of VVN135.

Good bullets for big deer or moose at conventional shot angles (allthough I must admit to limited experience)

Thanks 1894 !!,

some good information there. The other bullet that would work on the game I shoot is the 250 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, but it just does not look right loaded in such a traditional cartridge like the 9.3x62. I wonder if the 232 gr Vulcan would open up pigs and roo's ?? which are a lot smaller than moose.

It was a very small moose! The exits on the fallow weren't very large but they definately opened up. The nose of the jacket is scored to start expansion, in fact you may get people saying they are too fragile for big game though this has not been my (limited) experience.
