I see that the newer RL-26 is out and is being stocked some. It is supposed to be "similar" to RL-25 but with more temperature stability - and maybe some more consistency too.

Has anybody tried any of it out yet and could possibly share an input or opinions of it?

I have some RL-25 and it does give more velocity at maximum book loadings in my 7MM RM than does my Winchester 780.

But as there is no RL-25 I thought I might give the 26 a try.

The two powders are completely different, being made in two different countries by two different manufacturers. However, they are very similar in burning rate, with most maximum loads with RL-26 using just 1-2% more powder than maximum loads with RL-25, and showing just a few FPS more velocity.

But from the information which Alliant is putting out, if you like RL-25 you will like RL-26 as well or better in the same cartridges.

It works very well in the .338 Lapua.
I did not see a gain in any fps in the .300 Weatherby or the 8mm Remington magnum over the RL-25. Just not enough of the powder charge to develop enough of a pressure change in the latter two calibers.
In the really big magnums and the .50 BMG based calibers it should do very well.

I haven't gotten it picked up and working on some loads for the 26 yet. But thanks guys.
