Would someone with Quickload do me a favor? I would like to get an estimation of the chamber pressure of the following load: 6.8 SPC Case volume (total) - 36 gr H2O COL - 2.24" Barrel Length - 24" Powder - Reloder 7 (27.2 gr and 28 gr) Bullet - 115 gr Hornady HP Primer - CCI 200 MV #1 - 2750 fps MV#2 - 2830 fps Thanks

You need to include the bullet length and case length (my copy of QL is old enough it doesn't include the SPC). Note that the primer is irrelevant to QL, even though it can have a marked effect on pressure. Know that QL can, for any given load, be off by 10,000 psi. It simply isn't accurate enough to predict pressures for a particular powder, if for no other reason than lot variations. QL can indicate the performance possible at a given pressure level, but it can't tell you which powder, nor how much of it, will do the trick. Sorry for the bad news. I'll crank some numbers for you if you give me the other dimensions, but it is an exercise in futility.

asdf, Bullet length ~ 0.9" Case length ~ 1.676" I understand the limitations of Quickload, but am interesting in a "ball park" estimate anyway. Thanks

For 27.2 gn of Re7, QL predicts 71 ksi and 2820 fps, and for 28.0 gn, 78 ksi and 2880 fps. Since the fps predictions are high, the pressure predictions are most likely high as well. Running in reverse, so to speak, QL predicts that with Re7, your 2750 fps is reached at 65 ksi and the 2830 at 72 ksi. Going back a few decades in technology, you can try the Powley Computer and find estimates from the Pressure calculator of 52,000 CUP and 55,100 CUP. The Load Computer hints a powder somewhat faster than 3031 would be needed for this. At this case capacity (relative to the bore) and at this lowish bullet SD, the Powley pressure estimates are generally low. I'd say your're running a bit warm for the SPC.

asdf, Thank you sir! I haven't run these loads. They were provided to me by someone who has supposedly been shooting them. I was skeptical since I can only get 2670 fps with IMR3031 and that is definitely a hot load. Thanks again.
