Is it possible to put a slight crimp on a non-cannalured bullet by adjusting the seater die a certain way?The booklets with the dies say not to do it,but factory loads with Barnes bullets come crimped. You read where people claim they get their groups cut in half by using a Lee factory crimp die,but they do not make one for any Weatherby calibers except the .300.

Contact Lee directly. They normally can make you one. Not sure what the markup is over standard offerings but I bet it's pretty reasonable.

What caliber are you loading for? And it is possible to crimp, I like to do it in 2 steps though, one where the bulet gets seated and then the crimp I just back the seater up a few turns. If you have a progressive press with an unused station and an extra seater die you can use it as a dedicated crimp die that way. I'm not saying it would be as good as a proper crimp die but if you have an extra die it is better than nothing.

I would be interested to hear if someone has a valid reason not to do this, there must be some reason not to otherwise I wouldn't have had to discover it....

Lee will make you a crimp die for $25.00. Go to their website www.leeprecision.com
Locate the crimp die page and there are the directions for sending in a DUMMY round. Send the dummy and a check for $25.00 and you will have it in about 4 weeks.
