Almost all of the beam scales are made by Ohaus for other companies. Hornady's scale is a good one and is not from Ohaus.

Lee's safety scale is not something I'd recommend!

Years ago Bonanza had a great plastic scale....light but accurate as all get out.

Today...RCBS gets my money in scales. I believe it's the 505...

A 505 or 10-10 RCBS are scales I trust. The 505 is good enough for everything I do. This is not to say the other scales by Redding, Lyman, Hornady, or any others are inferior. I trust those scales, it’s just an old habit of mine.

+1 for the RCBS. I have a 10-10 and it is accurate to the tenth according to my Lyman check wgts.

I’ve been eyeing the RCBS 1010 for a few years. Back when it only cost 37 bucks. It’s a great scale, but it’s not worth the money over a 505.

The 10-10 gets another vote!!

5-0-5 works also but 10-10 if you can swing it. (never will you regret it)

I have a RCBS 505 (made by Ohaus for RCBS). It is sensitive enough that I can tell the effect on the balance beam of single kernels of the stick-type powders such as IMR 4064.

I think these cost about $70 now. I got mine for less than $35 more than 20 years ago, and I've used it since then. My older daughter also used it for her science project in high school, and she got a first prize in the county science competition.

The "Hornady Scale" and the "Pacific Tool Company Scale" are identical. I have been using this brand of scale for close to 30 years and believe it is the best.

pick one of the RCBS scales, they are Ohaus (as others have pointed out). But RCBS will provide a life time warranty, just because it is RCBS green.

I can't recomend Lyman pro or Hornady. Tried them dozens of times with check weights and they wern't very consistant. They both even had trouble trying to zero them empty.

Got the RCBS 505, which was out the preverbial 1 tenth from zero, but at least I've found it consistant, and perfect when zero'd with the check weights on the required setting.

But I wouldn't take any for granted as you could "set" them wrong if you get careless.
Never seen any that one couldn't reload on safely though. Ie less error than my good thrower.
