Hello,

Just picked up a 6.5x55 Husqvarna Vapenfabrik 1942 bolt action rifle.

The rifle is unmolested and in very good condition.

I don't know the barrel twist and would like to know what weight / style of bullet I should start with when reloading.

Thanks,

rudyc

Hunting?? I assume. My choice would be anything from the 125 Part- 160 Hornady backed by IMR4350 and slower powder. Depending on what and where you are hunting of course.

Post a pic.

I've had really good results on deer with 140gr Hornady SP Interlocks over Re22 in my 6.5x55 CZ550 FS. I also had good results on deer with Hornady 129gr SPs and H4831sc in a .260 Kimber I used to own.

I`ve had excellent luck with the 129gr Hornady SP in mine on deer and the 120-140 gr bullets have all been more then accurate enough.
Finn Aaguard wrote in one of the NRA publications that he concidered the 140gr Sierra GameKing in the 6.5x55 to be the perfect match for deer, and if limited to one bullet only for the Swede, that was the one he`d choose.
