I am in the process of getting my Parker Hale 300WM converted to 416 Taylor and would love to get anyone's experiences and loads. Data is not very common. | ||

Here is some info.The 416 Taylor was develped in 1972 by Robert Chatfield-Taylor. Based off the 458 win cartridge by neckeing it down,or taking a 338 win and necking it up. Some have considered it the forerunner to the 416 Rem. Here are some loads for it. 400 gr SP bullet,IMR 4320,70grs=2270fps=4595 energy. 400grsp bullet,IMR4320,71grs=2305fps=4700energy. JABS, Pick up a copy of "Big Bore Rifles & Cartridges" by Wolfe Publications. There are two articles in it on the .416 Taylor, one by Bob Hagel and the other by John Wooters including some loading data. Like van's reco above; both Hagel & Wooters considered IMR 4320 to be their optimum powder for this cartridge. I'm sure there's others as well - just like v-d recommends. Cheers, Number 10 | |||
